This database is designed for research scientist to improve trait of crop or flower by CRES-T (Chimeric REpressor gene-Silencing Technology) system. CRES-T system is a novel gene silencing technology for genes encoding transcription factors. When plant-specific transcriptional repression-domain is fused to the C-terminal of transcription factor and predominantly expressed by storng promoter such as CaMV35S promoter in plant, the resultant transgenic plants show loss-of-function phenotype of the gene for transcription factor even in the presence of functionally and/or genetically redundant transcription factors (Hiratsu et al., 2003).

We are now applying this technology to almost all the transcription factors of model plant Arabidopsis to analyze the biological function and obtain transgenic plant with agronomically preferable traits. This strategy can be applied to not only Arabidopsis but also other ecnomically important plants. Furthemore, in some cases, plasmid construct used in Arabidopsis is also effective in other plants indicating special merit of this technology over other new emerging technology such as RNAi. This database is aimed to provide phenotypic information of various plants applied CRES-T to various genes for transcription factors (Mitsuda et al., 2008; Mitsuda et al., 2011).
